Unauthorised Construction

On an average 3000 buildings are constructed as unauthorised, even though measures are taken to curtail it with the staffs available. Lack of proper enforcement due to manpower shortage, stringent rules position, higher land price, lack of sufficient penal provisions, etc are the major reasons for the emergence of unauthorised constructions in Coimbatore.

The Asst.Commissioners of Zone offices are delegated with power to take action against the unauthorised constructions. The AE/JE will detect these buildings, issue two notices, launch prosecution in the Court of Law, impose penalty. Such building will attract a one time penalty of 50 paise per sqft if applied for plan approval and recurring penalty of 25-50 paise per sqft for every half year under sec 283.
